I have the privilege of volunteering for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep an organization with the mission “To introduce remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with a free gift of professional portraiture”. (quote taken from their site). I have only done a few NILMDTS sessions, but each one will remain in my heart forever. I volunteer for NILMDTS for one very simple reason: if I were to lose a baby, I know I would want photos.
These sessions of course don’t get blogged about. Everything is kept confidential. But today I make an exception. Early this year I did a maternity session for a woman whose baby wasn’t expected to survive delivery. As I photographer, I don’t ask any questions, I simply create the best images I can. A few weeks after this session, I learned something amazing…Baby Gaelen survived birth and was awaiting a heart transplant…which he received. With permission from Gaelen’s mom, I share this video and images with you today.
Happy six month birthday Gaelen. I wish you complete health and happiness!
