Dana {Bellingham Maternity Photographer}

The unseasonably warm weather meant I was able to do maternity photos of Dana outdoors. This is a rare treat indeed here in Bellingham in February! Two year old Silas was charming and adorable! I had to do a little running to get his picture, but he was having fun and so was I.

Before too long (you really don’t want to push your luck in the weather department her in Bellingham) we headed inside for more photos. Bellingham Maternity PhotographerBellingham Maternity PhotographerBellingham Maternity PhotographerBellingham Maternity PhotographerBellingham Maternity PhotographerBellingham Maternity PhotographerBellingham Maternity PhotographerJust look at those stunning blue eyes! I cannot wait to head back for birth photos next month. One of the best parts of being a birth photographer is forming new relationships and watching families grow.

Apollo is four years old and the master of doing things himself. I love the focus and he concentrated on carefully undoing each button…Bellingham Photographer

And I love the look of pride on his face when he is successful.Bellingham Photographer

He was more successful than I was  this day, as I tried in vain to get photos of him with his Beads of Courage. He was determined only to wear the new string of beads. You can probably guess who won that battle!

I managed to get a photo of all four strings of beads anyway. And some cute new photos of Apollo.

So I guess I won too.

Boy in the Woods {Bellingham Children’s Portraits}

What makes  a great children’s portrait? The answer varies from person to person. I’m a sucker for moody black and whites.20140916_8857 blog

And close-ups that highlight a child’s eyes.

I love natural, unposed shots. A ten-year-old-boy in torn jeans and converse? I love it.

A not-so-little boy, outside in the woods? Comfortable in his own skin. Laughing. Smiling. This is what I love to capture in children’s portraits.

Four {Bellingham Children’s Photographer}

Bellingham Children's Photographer

My sweet boy, my Apollo turned four last month. You might look at this photo and see a thin, curly-haired boy.

I see so much more. A heart warrior, heart surgery survivor a fighter.

A boy who has suffered too many medical procedures in four years, but come through with his spirit intact.

A  little boy who loves LEGO and movies and playing in the water.Bellingham Children's Photographer

A little guy who has learned to eat a variety of food, but still depends on his g-tube to grow. A little boy who is loved and adored by 13 older siblings and two parents.

Happy birthday, Apollo XIV!

Cody {The Superhero Project}

Three year old Cody (or Cody Bear, as his mom likes to call him) totally stole my heart. I seriously fell in love with the little guy in the short hour that I had the honor of photographing him.

His mom, Shawna, says: Cody was born with Trisomy 21 or Down syndrome. He’s been blessed with good health, but struggles with his extremely low muscle tone, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Speech Apraxia. Despite those obstacles, he is a playful little boy who loves to tease and give hugs and kisses. He loves music, Sesame Street, Baby Signing Time, and farm animals.
