Welcome Bennett: Bellingham Homebirth Photography
One of my favorite things about being a birth photographer is the opportunity to work with families a second or even third time as they welcome a new baby into their growing family. Two years ago I had the privilege of photographing Aria’s birth and was thrilled when Cassie asked me to photograph the birth of their newest baby as well.
Aria was born at the Bellingham Birth Center but Cassie was planning a homebirth for her third baby.
When I arrived at Cassie’s house she was obviously in full-blown labor. While she still had a sense of humor between contractions she was working hard.
Whenever I photograph a birth I try to stay in the background and give moms and dads their space. I try to capture each moment while being as non-invasive as possible.
Jase and Cassie made an amazing team as Cassie worked to bring her baby into the world.
I am always in awe of women giving birth. Whether they choose a medicated birth in the hospital or a homebirth, or anything in-between. Birth is amazing and women’s bodies are amazing.
Both of Cassie’s parents were present for the birth of her baby and when it came time to push Jase went and woke up big sister Elaina so she could witness the birth as well.
I have photographed many, many births where older siblings have been present and not once has the child been scared. They sometimes worry a bit as mom gets louder, but they have all loved being a part of the process.
It’s a BOY!!!
Big sister Elaina was thrilled to be able to help cut the cord of baby brother Bennett.
Elaina helps feed her mama fresh fruit after the birth of her baby brother.
Welcome earthside, Bennett, you are so very loved!
