I have had so much fun working with John and Leslie over the past months. We had lovely maternity session at Glenn Echo Garden on a perfect summer afternoon. After this maternity session, the wait for their baby girl’s birth was on.

Labor Begins and Mom is Working Hard

Lesley was in good spirits but working hard when I showed up for her birth. First births are full of anticipation and long-awaited dreams. Everything is brand new for expecting parents.

Women’s bodies are amazing and designed for birth. I am in awe at every single birth I attend. Labor is hard work for every woman but somehow instinct and nature take control. The mother’s body is just beginning to learn this rhythm called labor. In some magical way, mother and baby work together to bring the baby earthside.

Giving Birth with the Help of a Doula

Lesley hired a doula Stepha Lawson for to attend her birth. I always recommend that my clients hire a doula. After witnessing well over fifty births I have found that every mom can use the extra support doulas offer. Dads especially appreciate doulas as they can be there to run errands, fix food for mom and dad, and give dad a break from supporting his wife during a long labor.

Congratulations, John and Lesley! Erin is absolutely beautiful and I am so jealous of her hair.
